Dr. Tim Smith
Dr. Tim S. Smith is a state missionary serving the churches of the Georgia Baptist Convention. He is the Specialist in the Sunday School/Small Group Ministries. The focus of his ministry is assisting pastors, ministers of education, Sunday School directors and other leaders in growing a healthy church. Tim has been with the Georgia Baptist Convention since 1999.
Prior to coming to the GBC he served churches in Georgia and North Carolina. Tim earned his Doctorate of Ministry degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He received the degree of Master of Divinity with Christian Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Education from University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia and from Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia he received an Associate in Arts degree in Religious Studies.
He has authored, co-authored or contributed to several resources including; Bringing LIFE to Adult Sunday School, Basics of Preschool/Children/Youth and Adult Sunday School series, Sunday School that Really Excels: Real Life Examples of Churches with Healthy Sunday Schools, Be a Catalyst: Start New Groups, The Sunday School Leadership Course, Training Your Sunday School Leaders, The Power of 10, Key Strategies of a Healthy Sunday School, Coaching a Winning Team, Evangelism through the Sunday School, and Training the Adult Sunday School Class Leadership Team.
He is a native of Georgia. Tim and his wife Cathy have adult two children and one grandchild. Their oldest; Therron, his wife Ashley and daughter Ember live in Atlanta. Annalyn, Tim and Cathy’s daughter, is a student at the University of Georgia.
Darryl H. Wilson, Ed.D.
Darryl H. Wilson began serving as a state missionary for the Kentucky Baptist Convention in September 1997. As Sunday School & Discipleship Consultant, he provides Sunday School, discipleship, and small group training and consultations for 2,400 Kentucky Baptist churches and 71 associations. Darryl has also taught at Rockbridge Seminary, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Boyce College.
Darryl grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, receiving the Bachelor of Arts degree from Belmont University in 1982. He graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville in 1985 with the Master of Divinity in Christian Education degree and in 2003 with the Doctor of Education degree.
Over the years, Darryl has served five Baptist churches as Minister of Education. He came to the convention from Eastwood in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he served for almost six years. In addition to Eastwood, he served the Kentucky churches of Alton in Lawrenceburg, Living Hope in Bowling Green, and Third in Owensboro as well as First in Pendleton, South Carolina. During those years, Darryl was also active in associational and state Sunday School work.
Since 1988, Darryl has been involved in the Kentucky Baptist Religious Education Association. Prior to coming to the Convention, he served as President-Elect and President of the association. In addition, he has been an active member since 1986 in the national organization, Baptist Association of Christian Educators, which presented him the “Outstanding Young Religious Education Leader Award” in 2002. Darryl also served in 2000-2002 as President-Elect and then President of the State Sunday School Directors Association, an association of his peers across the country.
Since 1984, Darryl has been married to Yvonne Wilson of Lawrenceburg. Yvonne received the Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from the University of Kentucky in 1984. Since graduating, she has held various accounting and teaching positions. Currently she is a middle school algebra teacher at Whitefield Academy in Louisville.Theiroldest son, Jonathan,is 25 years old and married to Samantha. He is serving in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear engineer on an aircraft carrier. Jordan is age 24and a senior at Western Kentucky University. In addition to his family, Darryl enjoys golf, traveling, chess, and reading.
